As members of the Lay Dominicans, formerly known as the Third Order of St. Dominic, we each have the responsibility and commitment to adhering to our directive as set forth by St. Dominic himself–that is, to Preach. Our charism as Dominicans, known as The Pillars: Pray, Study, Community, and Apostolic Works, all lend themselves to “Preaching.” This may not be in the form of preaching from the pulpit but from “the pulpit of life.” Spreading the Gospel to “set the world on fire” with the love of God through the teaching of Jesus Christ is our first and foremost mission as an Order.
One way we, members of the St. Dominic Denver Fraternity, preach is to give 1-Minute Preaching during our meetings. We must “sow the seeds and not hoard it.” The following are links to 1-Minute Preaching written by members of our local Fraternity.
“Hear and Observe the Word of God” (Luke 11: 27-28)
“In the Obedience of Faith” (Romans 1: 3-9)
“In Giving Freely” (Luke 8: 5-15)
“Darkness Into Light” (Luke 1:76-79)
“Newness of Life” (Mark 2: 21)
