Justice, Peace and Integration of Creation
It has been a long tradition within the Dominican Family that Social Justice is at the heart of its preaching. Indeed, we see it throughout its 800-year history to preach to counter oppression and discrimination of the vulnerable. As Dominicans, we must work towards aiding those we can based on the signs of our time to be unconditionally loving, compassionate and merciful. With the Congress on Mission in January of 2017, Fr. Bruno Cadore, (Former) Master of the Order, calls all Dominicans to work worldwide to address Justice, Peace and Care of Creation focusing on Human Dignity, Youth and the Environment. Below are important links that help to elevate this tradition in a world that is mired with oppression, discrimination and the lack of care for each other and our home planet Earth.
The Lay Dominican Denver Chapter has launched an effort in line with the Lay Dominican Provincial Council to form Justice, Peace and Integration of Creation in order to address active ministries focused on Human Dignity and Care of Creation.
Global Effort in Human Trafficking Awareness
In a global push to address Human Trafficking, the Third International Congress of Lay Dominican Fraternities held on October of 2018 discussed and urged social action to bring about awareness of the worldwide crisis of Human Trafficking. Our Chapter is following suit in an effort to bring about awareness of this far-reaching and serious issue. A presentation was made to the Denver Chapter on December of 2018 given by Leo Fua, OP, Chapter Promoter for JPIC. Here is that presentation in pdf format.
That presentation was followed by another presentation given by the Denver Anti-Trafficking Alliance with the City and County of Denver. Here is that presentation in pdf format.
